Aluminium bronze alloys are used for their combination of high strength and excellent corrosion and wear resistance. It has high-strength properties and excellent resistance to wear and corrosion.Aluminium bronze alloys such as rods, plate, strip, tube are available at SIMCO.
They are used in marine hardware, shafts, and pump and valve components for handling seawater, sour mine waters, non-oxidizing acids, and industrial process fluids. They are also used in applications such as heavy duty sleeve bearings and machine tool ways.
SIMCO also manufactures and supplies nickel aluminum bronze, both aluminium bronze and nickel aluminium bronze are manufactured in accordance with the defined international standards.
Aluminium bronze Ab2 Bar offers the highest strength of the copper based alloys with aluminium being the primary alloying element (typically 5 – 11% aluminium). It is also the most tarnish resistant of all the copper alloys – the appearance of the material does not deteriorate when exposed to the effects of atmospheric corrosion. Aluminum Bronze Ab2 are a family of copper-based alloys offering a combination of mechanical and chemical properties unmatched by any other alloy series. This feature makes the Aluminum Bronze the first choice for demanding applications. Aluminium bronze Ab2 are most valued for their higher strength and corrosion resistance as compared to other bronze alloys.
These alloys are tarnish-resistant and show low rates of corrosion in atmospheric conditions, low oxidation rates at high temperatures, and low reactivity with sulfurous compounds and other exhaust products of combustion. They are also resistant to corrosion in sea water. Aluminium bronzes’ resistance to corrosion results from the aluminium in the alloys, which reacts with atmospheric oxygen to form a thin, tough surface layer of alumina (aluminium oxide) which acts as a barrier to corrosion of the copper-rich alloy. The addition of tin can improve corrosion resistance.
